As part of the ongoing collaboration between Armeconombank and the International Business Relations Support Council (IBRS Council), the Bank hosted financial advisor and Vice President at UBS Financial Services, Mark Chenian. During his visit, Mr. Chenian addressed the Bank’s employees, sharing insights from his extensive professional career and detailing his strategic interests in Armenia, with a primary focus on the culture of Western investment banking and the necessity of its development within the country.
“In recent years, my attention in Armenia has been centered on several key areas. The first is the Academic City project; I believe radical changes are essential to improve the quality of education in Armenia, and I am committed to bringing the best practices from top American universities here. I firmly believe it is a disservice to the next generation not to provide them with high-quality educational opportunities. Second is the economic growth of Armenia’s private sector; we must strive for growth that is tangible for the average citizen. Third, I am working to foster the development of an investment banking culture in Armenia. My goal is to transform Armenia into a recognized emerging market destination, which will ensure a significant flow of financial capital into the country from around the world,” Mr. Chenian stated.
The speech was followed by a Q&A session that touched upon the enhancement of investment tools within the banking sector and the importance of raising professional qualifications in line with modern global trends, including the value of CFA certification as a vital prerequisite for the advancement of investment banking. In this context, Mr. Chenian highlighted the realization of women's potential, viewing women as intellectual capital and a key factor in enhancing Armenia's economic competitiveness.
